Jeepney driver earned the praises of netizens for his generosity towards a young student

The way you become a hero in the eyes of a child isn’t through riches, or fame, or even talent. Sometimes, it takes only a good heart to be admired and respected. In Calamba, Laguna, a jeepney driver showed generosity that inspired a young student as well as the other passengers who witnessed the exchange.

Jonee Cañada was one of the people riding the jeep when a truly inspiring moment occurred. The netizen couldn’t help but share it on Facebook in hopes of encouraging other people to follow the footsteps of this amazing jeepney driver.

It all started when a young boy coming from Parian hopped on the jeep. He immediately showed the jeepney driver a five-peso coin and bravely said that this coin is the only money he has for transportation.

Now, we know that there are certain drivers who might ask the boy to leave immediately. Maybe Jonee and the other passengers who heard the boy’s confession were expecting the same thing, seeing as it’s really hard to earn a living. But they were surprised when the generous man allowed the boy to sit down and keep his money.

Toto, sa ‘yo na ‘yang limang piso mo, baon mo na ‘yan at mag-aral ka  nang mabuti ha. Wag mang-aaway ng kaklase.”

This grown man knew the kind of impact his reaction would have on the young boy and he decided to show kindness. Of course, the student was ecstatic because he got a free ride and got to keep the five pesos for school.

Jonee was so touched by the scene. She wished that more drivers or workers would know the plight of students and be more compassionate towards them. Naturally, the younger generation are our future leaders – so we must do everything we can to support them.
