Bride, groom serenaded by ‘Catholic Flashmob’ on wedding day

Most love stories start out with strangers turning into friends, then romance blooms, then they end up in a memorable wedding day. You see, one such beautiful, sometimes unlikely, meeting can be the outcome of something far more wonderful. How great Thou art, indeed.

For Tricia and Neil, who tied the knot in February of 2017, their most anticipated event in their life as a couple finally came. As they stood in front of the altar, they were suddenly taken by surprise after some of their guests stood up one by one.

From this point, you may have imagined that someone yelped his or her refusal to allow the wedding to push through like what happens in films. Or perhaps, a flash mob began grooving to make the occasion bubblier.

No. Nothing like these happened during Tricia and Neil’s most-awaited matrimonial union. What occurred was the officiating priest and the guests serenaded the soon-to-be husband and wife. Tricia was visibly touched and was seen carefully wiping her tears.

The melody makers, who were later on dubbed as “Catholic Flashmob,” sang “How Great Thou Art,” and it completely filled the room with harmony. After their surprise performance, everyone rose to their feet and gave the singers and the newlyweds a welcoming standing ovation.

In an interview with Independent, Tricia shared:

“It was a total surprise. The only two people who knew were my friend Gavin who was one of the singers and my sister Fiona who was bridesmaid. It was a huge surprise to everyone else at the church.”

“Apparently there wasn’t an actual rehearsal, just a gathering in the church before the mass began to discuss it. We had the best day ever and absolutely everybody said that the church was their favorite part of the day.”
