Did Enrique Gil really just sing ‘Laklak’ in ‘Bagani’?

Despite initially drawing flak for their Euro-centric (with the half-Pinoy leading actors) casting as well as problematic script, “Bagani” is still one of the highest rated shows in the local primetime scene. How? Well, let’s just say that they know how to REALLY entertain.

You may not believe this, but Enrique Gil – who plays the leading character Lakas – just sang the Teeth classic, “Laklak”. First of all, why? Second of all, why? And third of all, WHY?

Here’s how it went. In one scene, Lakas was entrapped in the long tails of an underwater creature. Luckily, there to guide him were six kind-hearted sirenas, one of which instructing him to sing his favorite song. Apparently, the only way to free himself was to sing to the antagonist, although the mermaid didn’t explain why.

Before you even know it, Enrique was chanting the iconic lyrics of “Laklak”.

Seriously, how did the Kapamilya actor manage to go through that scene while keeping a straight face? We know we couldn’t! Also, we’d like to know how Lakas learned the song to begin with. Any avid fans out there who’d like to explain?

But, really. Hats off to the writers of this genius fantaserye. When you think about it, when did viewers say no to a show that offers complete genres? Drama? Check! Adventure? Check! Fantasy? Check? Comedy? A BIG CHECK!

Naturally, the latest viral Bagani clip drew a mixed reaction from netizens. Some enjoyed that little OPM fanservice while others thought it was cringey and/or funny.
