Receiving unwanted attention from old geezers and aggressive predators is very common in the Philippines. It usually happens in tightly-packed public transportation where big movements are limited. For a female passenger named Anne Payuan, keeping her cool and recording the whole thing saved her.
The 25-year-old was peacefully riding a half-empty bus on her way to Laguna. This is why it bothered her when a man came in and sat beside her. There were plenty of vacant seats and the female passenger even had her bags next to her. Why would he choose to sit there?

Ignoring the whole thing, Anne tried to get some sleep during the ride. Her head started to sway from the bus’ movements and so, the man suggested that Anne could lean on his shoulder. It was a weird offer that was rejected immediately but her seatmate became aggressive.
He tried to get closer and even had the audacity to kiss her shoulder without Anne’s consent. The young woman was scared but tried not to panic. She secretly took her phone out to record the situation and provide some concrete evidence.

Feeling his hands on her was the last straw and Anne began to scream for help.
“The bus driver and the conductor looked for a police post. Then they dropped us off there. A police mobile came to pick us up and bring us to the police station.”
The disgusting man’s family met them at the station and tried to intimidate Anne into dropping the charges. However, the brave female passenger was firm in her decision to see the violator behind bars.
She’s hoping that her bravery would inspire her younger sister to also fight back against those who are wrong.
“I didn’t want my sister to grow up thinking anyone can just do things like this to her and get away with it. She kept tapping my back [every time] I speak up (sic). She’s young but I knew I had her support. I wanted her to know that she can stand up for herself, defend herself, while doing the right thing.”
